Expanding the pool of lawyers goes hand in hand with standardizing genuine professional competence
Commenting on the draft Law on Lawyers (amended), National Assembly Deputy Cao Manh Linh (Thanh Hoa) said that expanding the source of high-quality lawyer training to serve international integration is necessary, but he also noted that expanding the source of lawyers must be accompanied by mechanisms to ensure that they are equipped with fundamental knowledge and practical professional skills.
Politics-Diplomacy
Investors in a law firm are not allowed to control its professional activities.
Investors have the right to participate in governance and benefit legally from their capital contributions, but they do not have the right to control the professional activities and legal conclusions of lawyers. Emphasizing this, National Assembly Deputy La Thanh Tan (Hai Phong City) proposed adding a mechanism to control indirect control and conflicts of interest in the draft Law on Lawyers (amended). Regarding the draft Law on Adoption (amended), the deputy proposed specifying criteria for evaluating the original family and ensuring equal rights to know one's origins for all adopted children.
Expanding opportunities for the development of the legal profession while maintaining discipline and professional responsibility.
On the afternoon of November 2nd, during the plenary session discussing the draft Law on Lawyers (amended), National Assembly Deputy Nguyen Thi Thu Ha (Quang Ninh) emphasized that the most important requirement in this amendment is to harmonize two objectives: expanding opportunities for the development of the legal profession while simultaneously strengthening discipline and professional responsibility. This is the basis for building a professional, independent, and honest team of lawyers, contributing to the protection of justice and human rights in the process of building a rule of law state.
